Indiatimes – Cricket – End of Ganguly

Hey this is good news. I never liked him as a captain.I think he was a good batsman. I liked Azhar inspite of all allegations. He was a better captain. I hope Dravid does better than Gangs. According to me noone should be in the team because of his captainship. If that is the case lets have a non playing captain. Anyway we pay lot of money to Coaches they should lead from outside and one person should lead on the field. That could be anyone person selected for that one game…

EPC Global Conference…

Last week I attended EPC global conference in Atlanta… It was really helpful as I was able to talk to various companies look at their products. I was really impressed by Globe ranger and Connecterra.. They are middleware companies in RFID segment…:) Met lot of good people… It was hective 1 day visit but was fun and informational…

Patent Pool…

Today some 20 companies formed a so called patent pool. They will work together and all the patents will be put in central pool. Any company part of this pool/group. Will have access to all the patents in the pool. This is a basically to counter the intermecs patents in Gen2. Intermec is giving hard time to Symbol and others for using its patent. This is a great step forward for RFID. I don’t think any other industry has done anything like this before. Hope this works out good for everyone.

DOD selected 17 companies for RFID services…

DOD has selected 17 companies to provide RFID services… These are the guys who will be responsible to provide integration and implementation services… Basically they will be making a lot of money..:)

Here is the list of companies..
Anteon, Automated Tracking Solutions, BearingPoint, Booz Allen Hamilton, CDO Technologies, CODEplus, Concurrent Technologies Corp., IBM, INTECS International, Intermec Technologies, Maden Technologies, Northrop Grumman, Savi Technology, Sys-Tec, SYTEX, Unisys-ODIN and VeriSign.

Bearing point was also involved in pilot implementation done at Pensilvania depot.. These companies are the once to watch out for…

Lockheed Martin selects Zebra

Today Lockheed martin selected Zebra as there suppliers for RFID printers. This is good news for Zebra… Zebra has done past in bar code printing and recently joined the RFID wave… Getting Lockheed Martin account is a big step for Zebra. Lockheed has to comply by the DOD specification…

Symbol CEO resigned…

Today Symbol CEO Bill resigned. This is going to be a major setback for symbol. Symbol has recently done a lot of work in RFID space. They purchased Matrix which was into manufacturing of RFID readers. Now they recently came out with there first Symbol RFID reader. Lets see how this change affects the innovation/integration of there products and business units…

Today alien released its first Gen 2 reader (ALR-9800). The reader is also going to support MS, Oracle and IBM middleware solutions. Alien really knows how to market there product. As I have always said. RFID is integrations wave… The more middleware solutions endorse your reader the better position you have of selling them… Good for Alien…
